Bahram Sarang was born in 1951 in Mianeh, Iran. From very early age he showed
his great passion and talent for classical Persian music. He was no more than 10
years old when he could proficiently sing and perform songs and poetry that he
heard on the radio or any other source.
His extreme love and desire for
classical Persian music eventually directed him towards becoming a knowledgeable
vocal performer. By listening to masters of Persian music performers such as; Banaan, Ghavaami, Adib-e Khaansaari, Dardashti, Eghbaal Azar, Bahram was able to
memorize all intricate modals and tones in Persian music.
At age 13 he began
learning to play the violin as an essential music instrument while studying the
theory of Persian music.
His first performance on stage was at age 15 and from
then on he advanced to the level of masters.
Two years later Bahram had his
first debut performing songs on Tabriz Radio. At that point of his life, meeting
masters such as Dr. Ahad Behjat motivated him to study classical Persian music
at an academic level. His attendance at East Azarbaijan Music Academy won him
three consecutive scholarships to Tehran Music Conservatory where he graduated
in the year 1970.
Bahram advanced to perfect his knowledge of music in modals of
Persian music, (called " Radif '' in Farsi) by attending Master Mahmoud Karimi
and Esmaeil Mehrtash's orders in different conservatories. Being a natural in
art, he proceeded to study Persian calligraphy with Master Morteza Abdul Rasuli,
a calligrapher, musician and disciple of very well known Habib Somai (the famous
santour player).
By the year 1977 Bahram Sarang became a prestigious national
performer, where his songs were performed throughout the country on the national
radio and. He began reappearing on Iranian radio and television in 1988, where
he performed opuses arranged by well known composers Hosein and Hasan
Yousefzamani.
Baharam Sarang now an internationally recognized performer has had many concerts
with a variety of groups of musicians in different parts of the
world.
